The Musical Arts

While music in churches has frequently been a source of debate and fighting, we believe that music serves better as a witness than a weapon.  With that in mind, we value diversity in musical expression that bears witness to and gives expression to the relationship we have with God as a community of faith.  Music is a language in itself that can be a valuable conduit for communication and connection with God. Music can help us express what words alone can't, and gives us a beautiful means to express our worship to God in many ways.  It also allows us to be open to God's speaking to us as we hear from God when Scripture or a message of God's truth is conveyed musically.  We value authentic, varied musical expressions of the community of faith past and present, young and old, simple and complex; as one way among many that people can worship God together.
